Charles Hall, ECE Digital Communications Manager, has been voted the Chair Elect of the North Carolina State University Staff Senate on June 7, 2023. The Staff Senate serves as the representative voice for staff in matters relating to the University, supports staff members in the realization of their full potential at the University, and advances University excellence through its efforts to build a sense of community around all university employees.
Additionally, the Staff Senate works as an advisory board to Chancellor Woodson. The members review policies and procedures and make recommendations – when necessary- that affect staff members employed at NC State.
Hall was originally elected to the Staff Senate in July 2019, representing the College of Engineering in District 14. In 2020, he was elected Co-Chair of the Communications Committee, then elected to Committee Chair in 2021. As Chair of this committee, Hall has ensured that its members provide effective communication to all staff constituents to participate and learn about Staff Senate activities, events and university news. The committee is also responsible for helping to publicize Staff Senate, and promoting staff issues and concerns as opportunities arise.
In this new Chair Elect role, Hall will shadow the active chair Alan Porch (from the College of Sciences) for the 2023-2024 academic year. Additionally, he will serve as a delegate to the UNC System Staff Assembly and gain a non-voting role with the NC State Board of Trustees.
Hall will become the Chair of the Staff Senate for the 2024-2025 academic year. In this role, he will lead the Executive Committee, mentor the next Chair Elect, serve as the Senate’s official representative, report to the Board of Trustees, and continue to the delegate role in the UNC System Staff Assembly.
Hall has shown a tremendous commitment to his role in the Staff Senate along with his role in the ECE Department. In his Digital Communications Manager role, Hall is building a comprehensive marketing and communication team within the ECE department, supporting multiple affiliated centers in their communication needs, and communicating technical engineering concepts into words, images, and engaging content for the world to understand.
We are extremely proud to have Charles Hall leading the Staff Senate and look forward to seeing his efforts!
