Charles Hall, the ECE Digital Communications Manager, has been awarded the 2022 Head of the Pack Award and Staff Senate Leadership Award from the NC State Staff Senate.
The Head of the Pack award recognizes Staff Senators or those that support the Senate for going above and beyond in their work furthering the interests of staff across the university. The Leadership Award recognizes chairs of the standing committees of the Senate for their leadership and impact over the past year.
The Staff Senate serves as the representative voice for staff in matters relating to the University, supports staff members in the realization of their full potential at the University, and advances University excellence through its efforts.
The Communications Committee, chaired by Hall, has completed a launch of a new Staff Senate website, redesigned and reimagined monthly newsletter to university staff, and constituted automated processes to facilitate internal and external efforts of the Senate, allowing representatives to focus on their missions.
Hall came to the ECE department in 2016 in the IT and Operations group, working on reinventing the web design for the department. Since then, he has become responsible for the widespread marketing and communications for ECE. Some of his efforts include overseeing the social media pages, maintenance and management of the ECE website and affiliate research sites, curating print promotional magazines for alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, including the annual Spotlight Magazine. He has also vastly expanded the department’s video production abilities and trains employees and student workers on the art of video storytelling, live streaming, and photography.
Hall is co-chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association’s (ECEDHA) Communicators Working Group, in addition to serving on the ECEDHA Source Editorial Board. He has been extensively involved in the new national branding campaign under ECEDHA —The Future is What We Do—integrating the campaign into the fabric of the department and exploring new methods and mediums to implement that message, presenting on the topic at the 2019 ECEDHA Conference.
His technical expertise has been an invaluable addition to the department and to the Staff Senate, where he continues as the Communications Chair for 2022-23.
Congratulations to Hall for his award recognitions and thank you for all your work towards the department!
