Pre-Registration Advising
For Spring 2027 registration, our undergraduate advising office will begin pre-registration advising on September 23rd. We will not be lifting any advising holds prior to this date. What you can do now:
- If you plan to meet with your advisor to review your spring courses, schedule your appointment now for September 23rd or after. BOOK EARLY to secure your appointment.
- Please limit to one appointment per student to allow advisors time to meet with any student who wishes to be seen. We have ~1,600 students between CODA’d students and EFY.
- If you have general questions/clarifying questions for your advisor, book an appointment PRIOR to September 23rd so you are ready to submit your advising plan when the time comes.
Pre-Registration Advising Process:
All students MUST submit an advising plan via the Advising Tool. There are two ways to have your submitted advising plan be reviewed to have your hold lifted:
- Online Advising (no meeting required):
- Submit your advising plan on the Advising Tool indicating that you would like your plan to be reviewed online by your advisor (meaning you won’t be making an appointment to review your plan).
- 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher is required for online-review submissions (no meeting required).
- Meet with your advisor (meeting required):
- Submit your advising plan via the Advising Tool indicating that you will be making an appointment with your advisor to discuss your plan prior to your hold being lifted.
- Plan to meet with your advisor. We no longer use Navigate to book appointments. Book your appointment through myECE. Plan to either (1) make an appointment (zoom or in person) to review your submitted plan, or (2) utilize drop-in hours, if your advisor provides them.
- We cannot guarantee that you will be seen during drop-in hours as it is a first-come-first-serve basis. We strongly encourage appointments over drop-ins.
- Advisors will not be reviewing your Advising Tool submission prior to your meeting, so please schedule your meeting in Navigate.
Tips for having your hold lifted PRIOR to your enrollment date:
- We strongly encourage students to put their planned courses in their shopping cart prior to meeting with their advisor. This will help avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure your planned classes are offered.
- Online forms will be reviewed in the order of date submitted, not based on your enrollment date. SUBMIT EARLY!
- Keep in mind, if you resubmit your plan it essentially “updates” your submitted plan. Therefore, the date of submission we see is based on your last submission, and this is the date we will be going off of.
COURSE NOTES:
ECE 200 & 209: Requires 2.0 GPA. If you add either of these courses and your GPA drops below 2.0, you will be administratively dropped.
ECE 211, 212, & 220: EE or CPE Majors Only. For an exception to this restriction, you will need to fill out the ECE Override Request form and review of this request will be processed after all enrollment dates have passed.
CREDIT-ONLY (S/U) GRADING: With the exception of HES_ courses & E115, all courses must be taken for a letter grade to count toward your degree.
PREREQUISITES: It is your responsibility to be sure that you have the prerequisites for your courses. Failure to have a prerequisite could result in you being administratively dropped from the course.
After registering for classes, it is your responsibility to review your Degree Audit to confirm your enrolled courses are counting towards your degree. Courses listed under non-degree are not counting towards your degree. If you are graduating, you should have NO red Xs or blue stars on your degree audit.
