Joining NC State’s ranks of groundbreaking professors, Qing Gu joins the university as an associate professor in January 2022.
Gu received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2008, and her Ph.D. degree from the University of California, San Diego in 2014, both in Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining NC State, she is an assistant professor at the University of Texas.
Her research lies at the intersection of electrical engineering, physics and materials sciences. Starting in January 2022, she will hold a joint appointment in ECE and Physics, and will be a member of the Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Cluster in Carbon Electronics.
Carbon electronics offers fundamentally new avenues to solve some of the most important Grand Challenges of the 21st century. Faculty located in the Research Triangle perform world-class research in carbon electronics, and the Organic and Carbon Electronics Lab at NC State is a nucleus of these efforts that coordinates a number of NC State faculty across several colleges
“I believe the joint appointment with Physics and the involvement with the Carbon Electronics Center will reinforce the multidisciplinary nature of the field and will foster multifaceted engineers and scientists of the future,” expresses Gu.
Gu’s Nanophotonics research group is also inviting postdoctoral applications in the areas of spectroscopy, photonic device design, and nanofabrication.
