Registration & Enrollment

If you are attempting to enroll in an ECE course and are encountering a restriction (e.g., the class is full, you are outside the department, or you lack a prerequisite), please use the link below to submit a formal request.

Fall 2026 ECE Course Enrollment Requests

Timeline: Enrollment may be as late as the first week of classes.

Status Updates: We do not send individual confirmation emails when a request is processed.

Student Responsibility: You are required to check your student schedule periodically to see if you have been added to the course.

How to Search for Classes:

Students interested in what classes the university has to offer can use multiple tools to search previous and upcoming class schedules.

If you know the exact class you want and wish to see which sections are available, you can use the “Class Search” feature to find them.

To find courses, use the University Course Catalog

Plan your classes and build your schedule each semester using the Enrollment Wizard tool in MyPack Portal.

The ECE Department’s maximum course load for graduate students is 13 credit hours in a semester and 6 credit hours in a summer session for full-time students not holding assistantships.

If you need to enroll in more than 13 credits, you must discuss with the Director of Gradate Programs first.

Instructor Permission Required: Some courses require additional permissions to enroll, so you should contact the instructor and then send the approval email to the ecegradoffice@ncsu.edu. Once an instructor has approved your enrollment, we will enroll you in the course.

Department Permission Required: ECE and non-ECE students may request enrollment in ECE courses via the following process:

  1. Contact the ecegradoffice@ncsu.edu.
  2. Fill out the course request form.

All requests are reviewed and approved by the Director of Graduate Programs (DGP). Submitting the form does not guarantee enrollment.

Review the Academic Calendar for all deadlines, including adding a class without and with the instructor’s permission.
