2. How to Perform a Degree Audit

A Degree Audit is a comprehensive evaluation of your academic progress, highlighting completed and remaining requirements. To perform a degree audit:

  • Visit Perform a Degree Audit.
  • Follow the instructions to generate a report. This will include courses completed, courses in progress, and those still required.

Example Use Case:
If you’re unsure whether a specific course meets a degree requirement, run a degree audit to confirm its applicability. The audit will also flag any outstanding requirements, such as minimum GPA thresholds or thesis/dissertation credits.

CompleteThis icon will appear if you have successfully completed the requirement.
EnrolledThis icon will appear if you are currently enrolled in a course that meets this requirement.
Incomplete/LateThis icon will appear if you have not yet successfully completed this requirement, or your grade for the course has not yet been posted.
PlannedThis icon will appear if a course that meets this requirement has been added to your Pack Planner.
UnmetThis icon will appear if you have not yet completed or planned this requirement.

3. Adding Your Advisory Committee

Your advisory committee is a crucial part of your graduate journey. To establish or update your committee:

  • Refer to the Build an Advisory Committee guide.
  • Log in to the Degree Audits system and navigate to the “Advisory Committee” section.

Key Notes:

  • Committees typically consist of your advisor(s) and other faculty members. Additional forms/Approvals needed for External Members and Technical Consultants.

MS-Thesis students require three committee members (Chair and two Members), while PhD students require at least four (Chair or two Co-Chairs, and three Members one of which can act as a Member and GSR). PhD students need to include a Graduate School Representative (GSR) on their advisory committee. The GSR can also act in a dual role, serving as both a Member and the GSR if needed.

4. Scheduling Oral Exams (PhD and MS-Thesis Students Only)

PhD and MS-Thesis students can now schedule oral exams directly through the Degree Audits system. This applies to both Preliminary Exams and Final Defenses. Steps to schedule an exam:

  • Use the Schedule an Exam resource.
  • Schedule your exam at least 10 business days in advance to allow for approvals.
