ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION LETTER
- North Carolina State University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to provide enrollment and degree verification information for current students or those who have completed a degree. Please use this link National Student Clearinghouse
Current domestic and international students can obtain a free enrollment verification through MyPack Portal. From the Student Homepage, navigate to Academic Records and select Enrollment Verification from the left hand navigation menu. If additional information is required on the verification, students should request through the link above.

DEGREE COMPLETION LETTER: FOR MS Thesis and PhD Students Only
- For PhD Students. You can obtain a letter of completion from the Graduate School, rather than from the department. Once you complete your oral exam, submit your final error free dissertation to the Graduate School, and your committee approves your final dissertation, the Graduate School will be able to issue you a Letter of Completion that you can use as proof of degree completion This will certify that you have completed all requirements for your degree. Contact Jennifer Beaman (jmcrumb@ncsu.edu), in the Graduate School, with this request.
- For MS Thesis: You can obtain a letter of completion from the Graduate School, rather than from the department. The Graduate School will be able to issue you a Letter of Completion that can you as proof of degree completion. This will certify that you have completed all requirements for your degree. - Please be se sure to include your 9-digit ID number in the email.
GRADUATION LETTER
The ECE Graduate Office does not prepare invitation letters for graduation.
- If you are an exchange visitor would like to invite family members, friends, or relatives to visit the United States temporarily, you may write your own invitation letter to assist in obtaining a temporary visitor visa (B-2) from the U.S. Consulate in their home country. This invitation letter does not need to be reviewed by the ECE Graduate Office or the Office of International Services (OIS).

TRAVEL LETTER (Late arrival, traveling during the semester)
ECE Graduate students do not need approval from the department, the ECE Graduate Office, or the DGP to travel.
- The only required action is to notify your course instructor(s) if your travel will interfere with class time or deadlines. You must communicate with them to ensure you can make up any missed work.
- An enrollment Verification in addition to the items below, can be used to prove your current student status. The most efficient way to obtain this is through the MyPack Portal.
According to the Office of International Services (OIS), it is suggested that you carry the following:
- Most recent SEVIS I-20 or DS-2019 endorsed for travel within the last 12 months by an advisor at OIS. The processing time for a travel signature is ten business days. Please note: OPT students must have a travel signature valid within the last six months.
- A passport valid for at least six months beyond your re-entry date into the U.S. Some exceptions may apply.
- A valid visa. If you need to apply for a visa while overseas, plan ahead and follow all instructions from the embassy/consulate where you will apply for a renewal.
