Obtain the Hardware

• Minimum Required Equipment: 
  • one Analog Discovery 2, 
  • one BNC adaptor board, and 
  • two probes
• Available for purchase from the NCSU Bookstore at discounted price and 1-yr warrantee:  $252
  • Keep in mind this will be used in at least 5 courses in ECE.
  • The Analog Discovery version 1 is not a suitable substitute, as it is missing several key capabilities.
  • While you are welcome to attempt to find this elsewhere, you may find you compromise on the warrantee, shipping time, availability, etc.

Install the Software

(Optional) Video Quick-Start

• Download the WaveForms 2015 application (https://reference.digilentinc.com/waveforms3#newest), for Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
• Follow installer instructions. After installation, you should be able to execute WaveForms without registration.
• Verify installation and connectivity:
  • Connect the Analog Discovery unit to your computer via the USB cable.
  • Launch the WaveForms application.
  • If your connection is successful, the device serial number will appear at bottom of WaveForms window. At this point, you may find it helpful to check out our Tutorials page.
    
  • If not successful, there will be an error message that there is no connection. In this case,  you should try connecting your Analog Discovery unit to different USB ports on your computer to make sure that the issue is not with any particular USB port.Some support for installation troubleshooting may be found here, in the WaveForms 2015 Manual.
