Impact Award

Starting with FY25, nominations will be solicited from university faculty, staff, and students for an ECE Impact Award recipient. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a 0.75 FTE or greater employee of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or one of its primarily hosted centers, institutes, hubs, or initiatives. At the time of writing, this would include the ASSIST Center, FREEDM Center, PowerAmerica Institute, IBM Quantum Hub, AERPAW Initiative, and the CLAWS Hub.
  • Must have been employed by the relevant entity as of July 1, two years previous. E.g.: for the FY25 award, they must have been employed by ECE as of July 1, 2022.
  • They are SHRA, EHRA non-faculty, or EPS employees.
  • They have demonstrated recognizable efforts to support and amplify the missions and strategic goals of the department through outstanding customer service, operational continuity, or service to its community. 
  • Nominations for the award should be received no later than October 31 of that year.

Selection Process

The ECE Staff Awards Committee, comprised of a combination of 2-3 staff, 2 center or research area faculty leads, and the associate department head is charged with collecting nominations and providing a recommendation of up to three candidates to the department head for the final selection of one or more recipients. The award is recommended to be awarded annually, but not required.

The candidates as recommended by the committee would also be nominated for the College of Engineering Award for Excellence the following winter.

The recipient(s) of the award will also enter consideration for the William Easter Distinguished Service Award.

The recipient(s) of the award would receive recognition on the ECE website, inclusion on the ECE Staff Awards display, a physical award, and a monetary award.

Faculty, Staff, and Students are strongly encouraged to take the opportunity to nominate staff that have been integral to their mission and utilized the opportunity of this award to provide suitable recognition to deserving staff that are key to departmental excellence.
