CALLING ALL INNOVATIVE DEVELOPERS AND SECURITY EXPERTS!
Want to use your education and innovation to help
emergency responders around the country?
Could you see yourself solving how to:
- Store a credential on a SIM card?
- Create a mobile application using that credential stored on a SIM card?
- Authenticate to a FIDO2 service provider?
How about for up to $100,000 in cash prizes?
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Public Safety
Communications Research (PSCR) Division is currently seeking teams of
developers and security experts to participate in the Expanding the SIM
Card Use for Public Safety Challenge aimed at improving public safety
operations through innovative improvements to SIM card functionality.
Specifically, contestants will investigate the possibility of using a SIM card
as a storage container for authentication credentials that could help first
responders securely access critical information while on the job.
Visit http://www.publicsafetysimcard.com and Challenge.gov for
more information on how to participate in the challenge. Concept papers
are due May 15!
Please reach out to psprizes@nist.gov with
any questions about the challenge or suggestions for spreading the word.
We look forward to your contributions and ideas on how expanded SIM card use can support America’s first responders!
