Access
Access to EB2 / MRC / RB2
Please note that we only provide access to the EB2 or MRC Exterior doors for one of 4 reasons:
- You have a desk assignment / office in the building (see Space Policies).
- You are using a research lab — and your adviser has emailed us to request your access to that lab.
- You’re taking a course which is using a teaching lab and your instructor has requested that the course have 24/7 access to the teaching lab.
- You’ve been trained to use the ECE MakerSpace (EB2 Only).
Key/Card Requests
For ECE space in Engineering Building II (EB2), the Monteith Research Center (MRC), or Research Building 2 (RB2), please submit your request to ecehelp@ncsu.edu, cc’ing your PI or Supervisor for approval.
Once the request is approved, there will be a 1-2 business day turn around. You will be notified by email to come and pick up your key(s) once they are ready. Appropriate card access will be provided as a part of this request. Note that this is the same process in the event of lost keys.
Ensure you include the room number(s), full name, and campus ID number as part of the request.
By requesting a key, you must understand and accept your responsibility to the College of Engineering and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering to 1) occupy and use the facilities in accordance with all University policies, regulations, rules, and practices and with all applicable municipal, state and federal laws and 2) return the key immediately after your appointment is over. If a student, you understand that if you fail to return the key, your Graduation may be placed “on hold” until the key is returned. See NCSU Policies, Regulations, and Rules Manual for further details.
Please note that we do not control the following:
- FREEDM space in Keystone — please contact Rebecca McLennan (rhmclenn@ncsu.edu)
- ASSIST Space in MRC (specifically, the 218 suite, 221, 223 suite, 402-408, and 448-461) — please contact Marlene Turnbull Samuels (mturnbu@ncsu.edu)
- NNF manages their own space in MRC.

All keys can be returned to the ECE Key Return mailboxes outside of the EB2 3202 or MRC 334 suites. Please place the key(s) in one of the provided envelopes and label it with your name and the building/room number(s) they open.
