Inc.<\/em>, a national outlet focused on innovation news, outlines \u2018Why Raleigh Will Be the Next Startup Hub<\/a>.\u2019 NC State\u2019s Centennial Campus\u2014home to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering\u2014along with its industry partnerships, and entrepreneurship assets, are cited in the city\u2019s rise as a top startup hub.<\/p>\n

\u201cNC State\u2019s Centennial Campus, just west of downtown, looks and feels like Silicon Valley. The Hunt Library is stunning. More importantly, this campus is one-third residential so that Raleigh can always manage for growth and future potential traffic issues with fewer long commutes.<\/p>\n

The NSA has offices in this campus. Bandwidth, a publicly traded company\u00a0that supplies voice and messaging tools for Google, Skype, and Athena, is also on campus.<\/p>\n

Another company, Republic Wireless, is launching a new cellular walkie-talkie called Relay\u00a0for kids and parents. \u2018Being in Raleigh actually gives us an advantage, given how family-centric this area is and how many young children there are here,\u2019 said Chris Chuang,\u00a0co-founder and\u00a0CEO. \u2018Our \u2018market test lab\u2019\u00a0is literally all around us.\u2019<\/p>\n

This access to large companies, talented students, and residential living\u2014all in one place, five\u00a0minutes from downtown\u2014propels growth for the region.<\/p>\n

Not to mention, NC State\u2019s entrepreneurship programs \u2018provide an early pipeline for students to grow their ideas,\u2019 said Leah Burton, director of\u00a0the university\u2019s Centennial Campus Partnerships and Industry Alliances.\u00a0\u2018Our partnerships with both early-stage and global companies enable the creation of new products, companies and jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Centennial Campus, home to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is a 1,314-acre research park and campus located less than a mile from the main campus of NC State University. The campus is home to more than 70 corporate, governmental and non-profit partners, along with 75 N.C. State research centers, institutes and departmental units. In addition to the buildings and research centers, Centennial Campus also contains public walkways, a fishing pier and lake, game fields and an 18-hole golf course. In 2012, the university\u2019s main library was relocated to a state-of-the-art facility located on Centennial, making it a true \u201clive, learn, work and play\u201d environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
